Full Stack Developer
Tim Leonard is a Full Stack Developer at 21PSTEM, working primarily with the EnCOMPASS project. Tim has began his career as a music educator and professional cellist, teaching in the Warran Township Schools and many El Sistema-inspired programs throughout NY and NJ. In his roles as educator, Tim was committed to teaching according to constructivist principles in order to develop cohorts of lifetime learners. His students organized their own performances, made decisions about repertoire, and helped teach one another. As a performer, Tim appeared on stage at venues like Carnegie Hall and NJPAC and on TV on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He toured with ensembles throughout Mexico, Australia, China, Iceland, and Italy. One memorable performance found him playing music by Philip Glass in the Tantanoola Caves in South Australia. As a developer, Tim has worked on a number of open-source apps, including a program that connects individuals in need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic with local mutual aid programs. Tim is excited to be part of the 21PSTEM team and to continue his work in education as a developer.
